Guided Tour to North Harbor (Nordhavn) in Copenhagen

North Harbor (Nordhavn) – From industry dockland to livable city
The prehistory for Nordhavn is that in December 2005, the State and the City of Copenhagen entered an agreement on urban development in the old industral harbour. The income should help to finance the construction of the metro’s new City Ring, which today is up and running and connects Nordhavn’s stations other districts of Copenhagen.
Before anything was planed, debate meetings and workshops with the citizens and stakeholders were held, and it is their visions that have formed the program for a competition which was won by COBE, SLETH and RAMBØLL.
Their plan for the district was based on these 6 principles; 1. a dynamic city, 2. an environmentally friendly city, 3. a vibrant city, 4. a city with green traffic, 5. a city by the water and 6. a city for everyone.
