Guided Tour to Carlsberg in Copenhagen

Visit Carlsbergs New Architecture

Both new and experienced architect companies are behind the architecture that has been implemented in Entasis’ plan for the upcoming Carlsberg. And with succes most of the time. New buildings stand as unique works from a new era, fitted in between the historic and perhaps most beautiful factory buildings in the world.

When you walk in the district you will experience Praksis Arkitekters new Researcher Apartments and be able to compare them with the existing “The Hanging Gardens” by Sven Eske Kristensen, just around the corner. Inside Arkitemas office in Dipylon House, a former malt silo now totally modern and renovated,  the old giant legendary elephants pop up in front of a window. This mix gives a surprising effect and is sure worth a visit.

  • A walk in the history – from brewery to a new city. The home of Brewer I. C. Jacobsen still exist in one of the amaxing parcs. This is where our tour begins.
  • Combination of housing and business gives a vibrant city 24/7, and so does the combination of old and new archtecture.
  • Energy comes from large offshore wind turbines and solar cells on the roofs. Let me point them out.
  • Beertasting  on demand

The idea behind the district

The architects’ foundation for their work is somehow given by Entasis who in their program states that “Combination of housing and business ensures life 24/7. The interface between business, culture, education and housing creates social mobility and social sustainability. The hierarchy of urban spaces, tower houses and townhouses in a coordinated and holistic architectural vocabulary ensures architectural sustainability. The energy will be produced by large offshore wind turbines and solar cells on the roofs. “

A tour with focus on new urbanity and beer

A walk around the Carlsberg district has both a few kilometers to offer, but also many wonderful stories about the Carlsberg family, beer brewing and important to us beautiful architecture.

I promise we’ll make a stop and rinse it down with a local beer if you want to, before we part.
