Guided Tour to Nørrebro in Copenhagen
Diversity in Nørrebro Copenhagen
The Copenhagen district of Nørrebro and Nordvest have an enormous variety of amazing architecture. Residential and business. The cosmopolitan mix of the district plus the relatively young average age of the citizens, makes it a wonderfully diverse vibrant place to visit. In an attempt to open up the district and make it safe for everybody, many steps have been taken. One such initiative is the construction of about 500 student flats at its heart – the Nordbro complex.
- Bispebjerg Hill by Bjørn Nørgaard, an organic sculptural housing complex blending art, architecture and community
- Grundtvig’s Church by P.W.Jensen-Klint is a breathtaken, monumental brick church, expressing spirityality, light, geometry, devotion and calm
- Bispebjerg Old Hospital a historical hospital with red brick pavillions, gardens, calm and human scale
- Nordbro Complex Modern student residences by Arkitema Architects, combining community, urban life and functional Scandinavian design
- Superkilen a Public Parc and culture area designet by Superflex, Bjarke Ingels Group and Topotek1

This Neighborhood is the melting pot of Copenhagen, characterized by an extremely diverse mix of residents, including many newcomers from other countries. There is a multitude of shops selling food from all over the world and many different languages are spoken.
Bispebjerg Hill and Grundtvig church
Bispebjerg Hill by Bjørn Nørgaard who is not an architect, but an artist. That didn’t stop him from modeling this amazing residence with 153 apartments. He made his idea in clay and the model convinced the fond Realdania, that this was it. So together with architect Boldsen and Holm 11 blocks now stands as the best piece of combined Art and Architecture in Denmark.
In the same area we will find Grundtvigs Kirke, one of the most incredible churches in Denmark. Despite its extreme simplicity and absence of any ornamentation, the interior is almost overwhelming, with the vast open air between the tall, arched ceilings and the aisles of small wooden chairs below. Directly across the street in Bispebjerg Cemetery, people enjoy over hundreds of cheery trees bloom in april every year.
